Quilled first anniversary gift.

Recently I received a mail from Sherin who wanted to surprize his wife with a first anniversary quilled card with both their names on it. I choose the font and with some inputs from Sherin I completed the card. The names are made with 5mm normal quilling strips. The flowers are made using 3mm quilling strips.
Wishes to the couple who are celebrating their first anniversary today for many many years of togetherness.

Quilled bracelets

I was asked to make ten bracelets using red and white colours for a college reunion. Once I decided on the small unit of the bracelet it was all repetition and so it was really fun. I was not specified to make different designs but I made them all a bit different from each other.

Quilled Lilac

Lilacs always fascinate me. To achieve the layered effect of the flowers in quilling is ever a challenge. I have quilled lilacs before the variation here is I used tight coils for the petals.
All the strips are three millimetres in lavender , yellow and two shades of green.
I rolled an entire pack of 100 strips of lavender to make exactly 25 small flowers. I arranged and then stuck them to give a layered finish.

Seventieth Birthday card.

I was requested to make a card for a seventieth birthday. For this card I tried to use some bold colours. I cut out purple colour card stock only for the outline of the number 70. The flowers are made using purple and yellow 3mm strips. The centres are fringed out of 5mm yellow colour strips.

Quilled Durga.

This is my third Durga. Although I try to replicate the same design and I even have some notes for this Durga. The final outcome is always different . The earrings of this Durga turned out bigger and necklace turned out small. I have used gold colour paper for the background which also creates a different effect .
It took me about ten days to finish this one, I have used both 3mm and 5mm paper strips made into tight coils.

Thanks for stopping by have a great day.

First anniversary gift.

It is quite sometime since my last post. I have been busy with many things like summer camp at our library and learning calligraphy. I have also been quilling but not much.
This is the first card this year and I realised how much I love making cards when I was working on it.
This card was made as a first anniversary gift for a wonderful couple, Ravishankar and Suchitra requested by the girl's mother. She gave me complete freedom to choose what to make . I started the card with the idea of lots of roses and a couple of butterflies, this is how the card turned out. The card is pretty big almost A4 size. I used 1 cm A4 strips for the roses and 3mm strips for the rest of the card.
Thanks for stopping by , Do let me know what you think of this card in the comment section.

Quilled Mosaic valentine

I have been long wanting to try out the mosaic technique that Erin Curet of Little circles uses in her awesome Quilled works. She had a quill along using different shades of strips to get a stained glass effect. She had used two different colours in each element in different lengths to get that effect. I used the same lengths of the two colours here. The inner circle is pink colour beehive. The next layer is blue and the pink rolled together with a black strip around it . I used a quarter of each strip. The third layer is pista green and the pink . I first drew the hearts out , made an outline using 200gsm black colour strip then I added the quilled elements to fit in like a mosaic.  I worked on green colour handmade paper , but once I finished I cut the heart out.
It took me a long time to finish this . I thought the rolling would never end however I liked how it turned out . This is my first mosaic and I am willing to try more. Many thanks to Erin for generously sharing her techniques with videos and tutorials during her quill alongs.

Quilled twenty fifth anniversary card

I have made a lot of twenty fifth anniversary cards. Surprisingly for the same person who orders one as each of her friends reach that landmark year. This one is slightly different . I mixed more colours to this card.
I thought it would be nice to have my first post of the year a very colourful valentine.
I worked with 3mm strips for the whole card and used two tone colour strips for the birds and for the letters. As usual the letters were the real challenge. Happy to have pulled it off once again without too much mess.

Thanks for stopping by, A very happy 2016 to everyone.
